Treatment and support services

This section gives information on drug and alcohol treatment and support services available across Northern Ireland. There are a wide range of services available from short term extended brief interventions to more longer term community based or residential based one to one therapeutic treatment services. There are also services which offer ongoing recovery focussed group support, services which offer advice and support for your wider needs such as housing and ‘low threshold’ services specifically set up for those not yet ready or able to engage with mainstream or longer term treatment services.

Drug and alcohol services operate within a ‘Tiered Model’ and before searching for a service it might be useful to click here and learn more about what type of help and support is available at each ‘Tier.’ This may help you to better understand which level of support you might need or prefer and to better fine-tune your search options or to filter your results.

Gray’s Court is a move on supported living project managed by Carlisle House consisting of seven one bedroom flats - It offers a range of therapies, support and a Life Long Learning programme - It is short term accommodation with maximum tenancy of two years

AA is a fellowship of men and women who come together once or twice a week to share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem with alcohol - group meetings take place regularly across NI - you can search the website or call the head office to find out about one taking place close to you

Al-Anon is specifically is for families of alcoholics who meet to share their experiences of having, or having had, a problem drinker in their lives - you can call the head office to find out about a family support group meeting close to you

Alateen is part of Al-Anon and is specifically is for teenage relatives and friends of alcoholics (aged 12-17) who meet to share their experiences of having, or having had, a problem drinker in their lives - you can call the head office to find out about an Alateen meeting close to you

Lifeline is the Northern Ireland 24/7 crisis response helpline service for people who are experiencing distress or despair - you will receive immediate help on the phone and should you need further support we can provide a face-to-face counselling appointment in your local area within seven days
