Training and workforce development

This section gives information on those services across Northern Ireland who are able to provide drug and alcohol training courses and programmes (many of which are no cost or low cost to attend) for those wishing to improve their knowledge and/or skills in addressing drug and alcohol issues within their organisation, community and/or with their clients.

Via the 55+ project AddictionNI can provide alcohol training sessions to community groups and practitioners working directly with older adults within care and community settings

Region: WHSCT/WDACT

HURT delivers a range of drug and alcohol related OCN accredited programmes both within its centre and within community-based settings

Extern provides training on Needle and Syringe Exchange and on the supply and administration of Take Home Naloxone to services within the substance use sector and the homelessness sector.  Extern also provides training on harm reduction issues to services within these sectors.   

The training may also be provided to staff outside these sectors where there is clear evidence of need.

This training is provided regionally.
